In our efforts to bring you the best library service possible, the library has joined the Libraries of Middlesex Automation Consortium (LMxAC). During the transition, we will be unable to accept any holds between May 15 and May 31. Please note that holds placed directly by patrons during that time will also be lost. We are sorry for this inconvenience and look forward to coming back better than ever on June 1.

We are pleased to announce that the firewall for the library's computer network will be undergoing a major upgrade on Wednesday, May 31. Unfortunately, this will require the shutting down of our Internet network for a period of approximately two hours, most likely to occur between 1:00 and 3:00 PM. It is possible that subsequent sporadic outages may occur up until about 5:00 PM that afternoon. We are sorry for the inconvenience this may cause.

From May 26th - 31st, as we transition into our new system, we will continue to be able to check out library materials but will not be able to perform any other functions, including item check in, processing of payments; updating existing library cards, registering new patrons, or looking up anyone’s account. PLEASE REMEMBER TO BRING YOUR LIBRARY CARD with you as we will need the barcode number on your card to be able to check anything out to you on these two dates.

Really Good Book Discussion
Thursday, March 02, 2017, 07:00pm

The Springfield Free Public Library's (Really Good!) Book Discussion Group will meet to discuss Major Pettigrew's Last Stand by Helen Simonson.

Major Ernest Pettigrew (retired) leads a quiet life in the village of St. Mary, England, until his brother's death sparks an unexpected friendship with Mrs. Jasmina Ali, the Pakistani shopkeeper from the village. Drawn together by their shared love of literature and the loss of their respective spouses, the Major and Mrs. Ali soon find their friendship blossoming into something more. But will their relationship survive in a society that considers Ali a foreigner?

Discussions take place at 7 p.m. in the Staff Room. Refreshments are served. New members are welcome. To reserve your copy of the book call 973-376-4930 x228 or send an email: This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it..
