The Springfield Free Public Library's (Really Good!) Book Discussion Group will meet on Thursday, February 1 at 7 p.m. to discuss Commonwealth: A Novel by Ann Patchett.
Patchett, winner of the PEN/Faulkner Award and the Orange Prize, presents her readers with a character-driven domestic drama that spans five decades. The novel is about two families whose fates are set into motion one afternoon in the 1960s at a Christening party. Patchett paints a fully realized portrait of family life, along with all the humor, despair, sibling rivalry, tragedy and betrayal that make up that picture.
