As part of the library’s ongoing celebration of its 50th anniversary at its current location, the library will present a screening of Midnight Cowboy (Rated R) at 7:00 PM on Thursday, May 23.
Starring Dustin Hoffman and John Voight, Midnight Cowboy won the Academy Award for best picture of 1969. It currently is placed at #43 on the American Film Institute’s list of the 100 greatest American films and is also included in the Library of Congress’ National Film Registry. The movie tells the story of two drifters who eventually join forces on the fringes of a part of New York City that has long vanished and been remade. The film follows the path of their relationship from violence and distrust to the bonds of friendship.
