3/13/20: Program postponed until further notice.
Mardi Gras may be past but the fun will continue when the Springfield Free Public Library presents a performance by the Zydeco Revelators at 2:00 PM on March 15.
For those not familiar with the genre, zydeco is a musical style that evolved in southwestern Louisiana by French Creole speakers and which blends blues and rhythm and blues with music that was indigenous to both the Louisiana Creoles and the native people of Louisiana. The Zydeco Revelators ensemble features vocals, an accordion and a rhythm section that includes a metal rubboard vest that subs in for the traditional washboard used by Zydeco performers in the past. Zydeco is dance music at its catchiest, so bring your dance shoes if you are so inclined.
This program is free and open to all members of the general public.
